The Potter's House provides a Christ-centered education for students of all ethnic heritages and income levels, equipping them to serve God and society to their fullest potential. The bulletin board and the handshake are tangible reminders that when students enter the school, they aren’t just ID numbers or faces. Assoumani’s family emigrated to the US to escape the Rwandan genocide. Raised as a Muslim, he heard about the Gospel of Jesus for the first time when he enrolled at The Potter’s House in middle school. He became convinced that Jesus was indeed Lord and Savior, and dedicated his life to him. Most of these children came from families who could not afford private school tuition.

All five Democratic candidates for attorney general have committed to protecting the right to abortion and access to FDA-approved medications such as mifepristone. Meanwhile, the Republican candidates have said that they do not believe the state constitution guarantees the right to an abortion. As attorney general, both would leave the issue for the state legislature to decide. The primary results in this pivotal swing state are certain to reveal insights about the major issues shaping the general election, namely on abortion and the Israel-Hamas war. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have essentially clinched their party’s 2024 nominations for the White House. But Pennsylvania voters on Tuesday will cast their ballots in a slew of contentious and potentially decisive congressional and state races that are still sure to make waves as the campaign chugs toward November.

Support from local business leaders funds the purchase of the Southwest Christian school building. Two volunteer teachers and 12 students begin classes in the basement of the former Grandville Ave CRC church. The heart of The Potter’s House is discipleship through academic excellence that shapes the heart, soul, mind, and strength of the entire community. Through discipleship, we are becoming like Jesus and seeing him reflected in our pursuit to love the Lord, our God, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Through prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit, we want to align with his will and be transformed by his sacrificial and life-giving love for us.

To create a culture in which people who are a part of our body feel they belong to a family more than a church. Creating a culture of doing family well, both at home and in our body. Because the local districts tend to lean Democratic or Republican, the results of the primary elections can have a large sway on the race. Candidates across these races are running on some of the biggest issues facing the country — from abortion to the war in Gaza to election integrity. And the candidates whom Democratic and Republican voters pick on Tuesday could give larger insights about their views on topics that appear central to this fall's general election.
Watching the Rebroadcast
God faithfully provided the funds needed for their education, year after year, even as the school grew. A middle school program began in 1992, and a high school campus opened in 1998. The Fire Marshall only gave permission to use this space for one year, so they immediately began looking for a more permanent space. Adjacent to the church was the former Southwest Christian School building, which was being sold by a local school board at a six-figure price the young school could not possibly afford. They stepped out in faith and agreed to buy the building, and God miraculously provided the funding through the generosity of several local Christian business leaders.
The Potters House Community
Several others are also watching to see who their opponent will be in the fall. And, in some cases, the outcome of Tuesday’s races could determine which way those seats swing on Election Day. This school year, approximately 600 students will get access to affordable Christ-centered education, exceptional teachers, a safe and caring environment, and a vibrantly diverse student body.

Time Magazine recognized Jakes as “America’s Best Preacher,” and the Dallas-based minister has pioneered people toward purpose for the past 45 years through his life-changing T.D. His earnest approach of meeting others where they are emboldens them to reach the places they want to be. Following an immersive corporate worship experience, Wednesday School attendees will break into a smaller group to attend a class of their choice. Classes will be led by various TPH pastors on specific topics designed to cultivate a deeper, intentional relationship with God.
The Potter’s House of Dallas
The Potter’s House, as a community of learners, will relentlessly pursue deeper discipleship with Jesus Christ and continually discover new ways to equip students to follow God throughout a lifetime of faithful service in the kingdom of God. We envision The Potter’s House as a place to continue fostering deep relationships with all in our community. Through dependence on prayer, we will expand our voice and advocate for a model of Christ-centered education in under-resourced neighborhoods. At the Potter’s House, Jesus is the center of everything we teach and all we do. Our staff is a dedicated community of Jesus-followers who feel called to serve our students and show them the love of Christ.

Bhavini Patel, a more moderate Democratic congressional candidate has tried to closely align herself with President Joe Biden. He is one of a handful of Republican representatives serving in districts that Biden won in 2020. Mark Houck, Fitzpatrick’s opponent, was acquitted of criminal charges stemming from an altercation at an abortion clinic. A devout Catholic, Houck co-founded the men's religious group The King's Men. He's worked as an author, motivational speaker and human resources manager.
There are several other high-profile House primary races to watch in Pennsylvania. The election on Tuesday could reveal just how salient the issue of the war is for Democratic voters — particularly in swing areas of the country. It may also forecast how other progressives facing similar challenges from moderate Democrats could fair in their races. The primary race could demonstrate just how important the issue of abortion is for the Republican Party’s base.
Patel is a 29-year-old municipal council member who also describes herself as a progressive. She has framed the incumbent's criticism of Israel as detrimental to Biden’s re-election efforts and unrepresentative of a district that is home to a large Jewish community. Abortion has roiled down-ballot races across the country, and Pennsylvania is no exception. Reproductive rights have been a major topic in the attorney general’s race and in the Republican primary for the 1st Congressional District. While it's a far-flung possibility, which party has a majority in Pennsylvania's congressional delegation also could have major implications on the presidential race. If the 2024 White House election is contested or tied, each state’s congressional delegation will have a single vote in deciding the winner.
Families of Potter’s House students pay tuition on a sliding scale based on their income. No student is turned away because of their family’s financial situation. She came from a large, single- parent family with a mother who spoke very little English. The housing project in which they lived was one of the poorest and most dangerous in Grand Rapids. Carolina’s mother heard of The Potter’s House and decided to enroll three of her children.
And our faith doesn’t end at the “amen.” A Potter’s House education is centered in Christ, through every grade and subject and activity. In 1974, A small group of college graduates felt called by God to move into Roosevelt Park, a low-income neighborhood on the southwest side of Grand Rapids, and open their doors to the neighborhood. Their efforts evolved into a weekly program called Kid Power for hundreds of neighborhood kids.
